About the Blog

Hi everyone! My name is Samantha. I am a graduate student at Columbia University Teachers College receiving my Master’s in Psychology.

Along with my interest in psychology, I have always loved to write. I enjoy journaling, writing stories, and writing letters to my grandfather. When I was in elementary school, my grandfather, Papa, and I used to go for nature walks and talk about deep life themes. Before fifth grade, I moved states, so Papa and I began writing each other letters to stay in touch and continue to share our thoughts. We write about nature, family, values, ideas, or whatever is on our mind, and we still write each other letters to this day. When Papa writes me, it makes me feel appreciated and loved to know that someone is taking the time and effort to share their thoughts with me, and I often feel inspired by his words, learn, and apply his lessons to my life. His letters also allow me to slow down and take time to think and reflect, which is important as life often feels like a race with time.

I decided to start this website because I want other people to feel the way that I feel when I receive a letter. I figured that someone out there reading this might find inspiration in or learn from my writing in some way, apply a lesson or thought to their own life, or be inspired to write a letter themself. I also thought that this blog might allow people to slow down and take time to reflect, which may become rare and challenging in our busy lives but benefits us in the long-run. I will be writing about topics of interest to me, books, podcasts, random thoughts I have, my journey as a graduate school student, etc. If you are reading this and find something that I say interesting or want to discuss a topic, please reach out to me. :)
