Double Lens
Dear Readers,
When you see a vast, sunny sky shining over a lake, you have the luxury of seeing it twice because the nature reflects on the lake and the water becomes a mirror of its surroundings.
You can choose to look at the sky, its reflection, or both. Together, nature creates a double lens of what lies before us.
In one of my psychology courses, we discussed how life is a matter of perception. It is not what happens to us, but how we look at and react to it.
You may look at the sky one way, but view its reflection over the lake in a whole new way. We can think of the reflection as new perception.
If you go through change or adversity, think about how you can change your thinking about what you are experiencing and adapt how you respond in a healthy way. Maybe you had an experience that taught you a lesson or helped you grow. Maybe you can re-direct yourself in a new direction. Maybe you can take space to reflect on how to handle a situation as opposed to responding too quickly.
Learn to acknowledge and understand both the sky and its reflection on the water. This way, you can view the whole picture and broaden your scope of what you see rather than having too narrow of a focus. You can learn to adapt your perception and perceive more beauty. Why just admire a sky when you can see it twice in two beautiful, distinct ways?
Love,
Samantha
